Jean Lee is one of the co-founder of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. Jean was born in the bustling city of Taipei, Taiwan but grew up in the serene nature of the Pacific Northwest landscape. Growing up being exposed to different cultural and geographical environments greatly shaped her perspective as a creative person. Lee's sensibility and design philosophy is about discovering complementary opposites with an unexpected balance of warm minimalism, playful austerity, and understated sophistication. Ladies & Gentlemen tudio’s focus is on creating a diverse set of design products from small objects, home decor goods, jewelry, to furniture, lighting, to collaborations, community-based exhibitions and beyond. At the core, her and her life and business partner, Dylan Davis, believe in exploring thoughtful design practice as a form of expression of themselves in relation in how they connect deeply with the world at large.

“Inner/Outer Metamorphosis” is a solo piece by Jean Lee of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. She delves into the essence of physical matter, contrasting human interpretation with the inherent existence of inanimate objects in nature. Inspired by her own process of introspection and our ever-changing world, the piece explores elemental materials—rock, metal, water, and light—showcasing their individually distinct forms while embracing an interconnected existence between them. Despite their perceived disparities, these elements, when combined, transcend hierarchy to exist together, while transforming and adapting over time and space. They challenge us to ponder whether humans are fundamentally distinct from these inanimate forms, urging us to embrace our existence within a metamorphosing world.
